A massive indoor waterpark in Atlantic City will now open on July 7.
Island Water Park at the Showboat was scheduled to open Friday morning, but the grand opening was delayed due to permit issues.
News 12 New Jersey was the first television crew to tour the water park. Showboat officials say that they hope it will bring in more families.
"It will say to families all over the country and Canada, it'll say, ‘Atlantic City is a great place and a wholesome place for families,’” says Bart Blatstein, owner and developer at Island Water Park.
Island Waterpark is a massive $100 million attraction. It's now the world's largest beachfront indoor water park located on the grounds of Showboat Atlantic City.
Showboat used to be a casino but was transformed into a giant arcade and go-kart arena, all part of the reimagining of Atlantic City as a family destination. Island Waterpark features 11 slides, a lazy river and FlowRider.
