Woodbridge family dog euthanized following fatal attack on baby, injuring parents

The mother sustained serious injuries from the dog and has since been released from the hospital, prosecutors say.

A family dog that killed a 3-month-old baby and injured the parents has been put down, according to Middlesex County prosecutors.
Officials confirmed with News 12 New Jersey that the animal was a pit bull. The attack happened around 6 a.m. Saturday on Mereline Avenue in the Avenel Township section of Woodbridge.
The mother sustained serious injuries from the dog, prosecutors say. Her and the father were both transported to the hospital for treatments and have since been released.
Prosecutors say the family’s name is not being released.
