Woman jumps out of window in Franklin Township to avoid being struck by bullets

Police say the woman hopped out of the window on the first-floor window of a home on Weymouth Road and ran to a neighbor's house to call 911.

A 26-year-old woman in Franklin Township is lucky to be alive after avoiding bullets.
Franklin Township police say a 24-year-old man was shooting at a woman early Saturday morning. They say the woman then hopped out of the window on the first-floor window of a home in the 1500 block of Weymouth Road and ran to a neighbor's house where she called 911.
Police say the suspect fled the scene by the time they arrived at the home. He was later caught during a traffic stop.
The female victim did not sustain any wounds from the gunshot; however, she was transported to Inspira Hospital in Elmer with injuries she sustained when she jumped out of the window, police say.
The suspect was charged with first degree attempted homicide, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He is being held at the Salem County Correctional Facility in Mannington Township pending a detention hearing.
The identities of the female victim and the male suspect were not released by police.
The incident is being investigated by Franklin Township police the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit.
