A woman was found stabbed to death inside a burning first floor apartment in Guttenberg Wednesday evening.
According to the Hudson County prosecutor, firefighters arrived at the apartment at 111 66th St. to extinguish the flames only to find the door locked and a man inside who refused to open it. Firefighters were forced to break in through a window to gain access to the fire.
Once inside, firefighters discovered the body of a woman who suffered stab wounds to the neck. According to the county prosecutor, the fire was allegedly set to conceal the crime, which is believed to be a result of a domestic dispute.
The man inside was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation. He will likely be charged with homicide, according to the prosecutor.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
