(07/27/07) WESTFIELD ? Hundreds of students start to realize their dreams and gain inspiration each summer at the Westfield Art Workshop.
About 300 children take part in the five-week workshop, created 35 years ago by musician Ted Schlosberg. According to Schlosberg, attendees gain an education in the arts that enhances other aspects of their lives.
?This builds character,? said Schlosberg. ?This builds respect, and this builds tremendous self esteem.?
Traditional arts classes are offered at the workshop?s 70-plus classes, such as courses in music, dance and painting. However, there are also classes that deal with science. The workshop offers a course called ?CSI Westfield.? In that class, attendees use science to solve a murder.
