West Point women's basketball coach Maggie Dixon died Thursday at Westchester Medical Center after collapsing.
Dixon's brother said she had been in the intensive care unit after suffering an arrhythmic episode to her heart while visiting a friend on Wednesday. The Army gave the 28-year-old her first head coaching job last October. Six months later, Dixon led the team to its first bid in the women's NCAA field.
The medical examiner is scheduled to perform an autopsy. West Point officials say the entire community is heartbroken by her death.
