The Cuban-born mayor of West New York says no to this year?s Cuban Day Parade, which usually begins there and ends in Union City.
According to parade CEO Emilio Del Valle, Mayor Sal Vega said he is not allowing the parade to go through the town because Cuba is suffering. Del Valle says he does not accept the reasoning.
"To ban it for a personal opinion that's very foolish. I don't know where the man's brain went,? Del Valle said.
The Cuban Day Parade is an eight-year tradition in Hudson County. This year, the parade will start in Union City and end at the border of the two towns.
Mayor Vega has scheduled a news conference for May 21 to discuss his decision.
The parade is June 3.
