The Wayne Board of Education is taking steps to ensure the controversy surrounding the suspension of nine Wayne Hills High School football players following an alleged fight doesn't happen again.
Nine players were suspended for allegedly assaulting two players from another team in October at an off-campus party. The suspensions set off numerous legal battles, and ended with the state's education commissioner backing a judge's decision to uphold the suspensions.
Wayne school officials are expected to unveil a universal code of conduct for all students in town. The current codes of conduct vary between schools. Officials hope that the new rules will help clarify what's expected of students both on and off campus.
