The Wall Township Police Department hosted a town hall meeting Thursday morning where community members addressed the rise in car thefts and other crime-related issues.
Wall Township police say they have dealt with 78 motor vehicle burglaries since Jan. 1. Dozens of those incidents were catalytic converter thefts mostly focused on Volkswagens and Hondas.
Residents are advised not to leave their keys or key fobs in their vehicles.
Police also reminded residents that Wall is a large town of over 30 square miles. They say residents should call 911 if they see any issues. Police say those calls do not get dispatched to the county seat in Freehold but are taken in town for a faster response time.
