Skeletal remains were found during the excavation on a lot in Wall Township, police and the Monmouth County prosecutor confirmed.
News 12 New Jersey was told that Wiley Paving employees made the discovery Tuesday on the 1100 block of Narrumson Road.
Bob Wiley of Wiley Paving says, “My guy was excavating over there, and I was running a dump truck, trying to bring material out of here from the person. We came across both garbage or animal bones, but then we came across another one and we said we’re going to call somebody.”
Wiley says he believes they saw two human skulls among the remains. There’s currently no official word on exactly what the remains are.
Officials say there is not believed to be any active danger to the surrounding neighborhood. They say no further details will be released until a forensic analysis is completed.
