The Wall Township High School football team has a new football coach, who was introduced during Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting.
The new coach is Ed Gurrieri. He is no stranger to championship football.
“I'm happy to be here. Thank you for the appointment. Thank you for putting your trust in me. We will work hard to make this team something that, not only the school, but the whole community can be proud of,” Gurrieri said.
Gurrieri coached at Manalapan for more than a decade, where he never had a losing season. He won a sectional title in 2014.
Gurrieri replaces former coach Anthony Grandinetti.
Grandinetti, along with two assistant coaches and the Wall High School athletic director were all put on leave last year in the wake of the school’s football hazing scandal.
