Members of the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department in Toms River dedicated a Sept. 11 memorial Monday to those lost on that day.

The memorial project began in 2012 and includes some of the last steel issued from the World Trade Center site kept at a hangar at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Fire Chaplain Lou Lotto says the memorial is the department's way of commemorating all those who died during the Sept. 11 attacks.

As part of the traditional services, the names of those who died were read and honored as part of the dedication ceremony.
