Viva Raw is recalling several of its dog and cat food products due to possible contamination with salmonella and listeria.
The company, which markets its food as “human-grade,” says the recall affects beef, turkey, and chicken items sold nationwide between July 2 and Aug. 21.
The products were distributed directly to consumers nationwide and to a small number of select retailers in NY, IL, SC, FL, KS, CA, and AZ, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Officials warn the products could pose health risks not only to pets but also to people who handle the food.
So far, no illnesses have been reported.
Anyone with products from Lot 21495 or Lot 21975, should contact Viva Raw at info@vivarawpets.com for a refund on any remaining product. The FDA says the food should be dispose in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access.
