An arrest has been made after a months-long search for a man accused of robbing a mother at gunpoint outside a preschool in South Brunswick.

South Brunswick Police say U.S. Marshals tracked down 45-year-old Nathan Simpson in Virginia.

Investigators say Simpson approached a woman in the parking lot of The Sapling School in December, just after she dropped off her child, and pulled a handgun. He is accused of stealing the victim’s cellphone before fleeing the scene.

Authorities said the incident was not random, noting Simpson and the victim were known to each other.

Simpson is now in custody awaiting extradition and faces charges of armed robbery and weapons offenses.
