Vigils and visuals of solidarity were held across New Jersey Monday to honor those who died in the mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday.
Community members also attended vigils Sunday night in solidarity for the Jewish community.
One vigil was held at the Glen Rock Jewish Center and the other at the Jewish Community Center in Paramus. And an Interfaith ceremony was held in Newark.
Springfield Public Schools confirmed that one of the victims, Dr. Jerry Rabinowitz was an alumnus of the district and was a 1969 graduate of Jonathan Dayton Regional High School.
NBC News reports that during the shooting, Dr. Rabinowitz rushed toward gunfire to help those wounded.
Pittsburgh Public Schools held a moment of silence this morning to recognize the victims and many other school districts began the day with a silent reflection.
