The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is investigating the death of a man who was being detained by police.

Authorities say Franklin Township police were called to a home on Locus Grove Road on March 10. They say a 911 caller reported that Scott Fitzpatrick left the home after an argument and threatened to come back with a gun.

Officials say that when Fitzpatrick returned, police handcuffed him, and he suffered a medical episode.

Fitzpatrick was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington but died five days later.

The cause of death was not immediately provided.
