Mourners gathered for a vigil Saturday for the Montclair woman whose body was found at Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange.
Neighbors, family members and friends gathered outside the home of Sarah Butler, 20. The New Jersey City University student had first been reported missing back on Nov. 23. Her body was discovered on Dec. 1.
"Sarah was loved. She had an abundancy of friends as anyone can see," said her father Victor Butler. "It's just sad that she had to go as soon as she did."
As News 12 New Jersey has reported, Khalil Wheeler-Weaver, 20, was charged in connection with Butler's death.
Officials say Butler had been strangled. Her car was found several miles away from where her body was dumped.
Wheeler-Weaver was charged with murder and disturbing human remains. His bail was set at $1 million.
