Health officials in Middlesex County are raising concerns after a fourth animal tested positive for rabies this year.

The latest case involves a skunk found in New Brunswick.

The animal was spotted Monday near Bartlett and Sicard streets on the Rutgers University campus and tested positive Wednesday.

Officials are urging residents to avoid contact with wild animals and make sure pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations.

Health officials also stress that any animal bite should be reported immediately to health officials and emergency responders.
