A video that was used as a key evidence in the corruption trial of former Passaic Mayor Sammy Rivera was released Tuesday.
The recording shows Rivera accepting $5,000 from a man posing as an employee of a company that was seeking to obtain city contracts from the mayor.
Prosecutors say Rivera thought an additional $50,000 would be wired to an off-shore account.
On the tape, Rivera can also be heard bragging he could get contracts with the Passaic County Water Commission.
The undercover recording was a part of a six-month FBI investigation, which came to a conclusion last week when Rivera was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison.
Rivera was one of 11 New Jersey politicians arrested as a result of the investigation.
