A bill requiring domestic abusers to surrender their guns is on its way back to Gov. Chris Christie's desk after he already vetoed it once.
Supporters of the bill from "Moms Demand Action" attended the Assembly session at the State House.
The bill would allow domestic violence victims to list guns their abuser owns and allow police to seize the guns if the offender is the subject of a restraining order.
It would also strip convicted abusers of their gun permits.
Gov. Christie previously conditionally vetoed the bill, saying there were loopholes that left victims vulnerable.
"I think this time, because both sides of the aisle are working together, I think we have a really good shot at saving some lives here," says Brett Sabo, of Moms Demand Action.
The Assembly speaker says this gun bill represents a compromise, and he expects the governor will sign it.
