US Surgeon General on pandemic: ‘Our path back to a normal life is getting shorter and shorter’

Dr. Vivek Murthy, the U.S. Surgeon General, says we are on the path to getting back to somewhat of normalcy, in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Vivek Murthy, the U.S. Surgeon General, says we are on the path to getting back to somewhat of normalcy, in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We should think about this is not that we flip a switch on and off in terms of the pandemic going away,” says Murthy. "But there may be a period of time where we have to dial up and dial down precautions depending on what is happening around us. But we are getting smarter about how to do that with each day that passes, and that's why I feel more confident than ever, that we have more normal days ahead of us and our path back to a normal life is getting shorter and shorter and that's what we all want."
Dr. Murthy does stress that being vaccinated and boosted will help us get there quicker.
