(07/12/06) ENGLEWOOD ? Union representatives throughout New Jersey lent their support on the picket line to striking nurses at Englewood Medical Center Wednesday.
The nurses, totaling 615 at one point on the picket line, have been on strike since June 29 as part of a contract dispute. The nurses are trying to get a new contract, but the main sticking point in negotiations continues to stem from the pension plan. Nurses say every time they agree to something, the hospital changes course. The hospital says it?s continually conceded to demands in order to end the strike.
Nurses on strike claim the hospital has only brought in about 100 to 150 replacement personnel. The hospital would not confirm nor deny that claim.
