“Under the Gun” is an unflinching look at the problem of gun violence in the tri-state — its many causes, its aftermath and possible solutions.

Instead of asking for answers from the law enforcement, legislators, clergy, community leaders and victims — we asked the individuals responsible.

In our first-of-its-kind groundbreaking survey, convicted murderers shed light on their dark underworld from inside the tri-state’s most notorious prisons.

The survey respondents gave us insight into how they acquired their guns, how they were used, their motivation, the influence of gangs and perhaps most importantly - how to prevent the next shooting.

Our three-part series also gives viewers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at how law enforcement uses forensics to take killers off the streets and put them behind bars.
