Two men accused of attacking a youth baseball team coach appeared in a Passaic court Friday.
The men, Ariel Lopez, a Police Athletic League coach, and his brother Javier Lopez, were charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attacking Ed Mack, another PAL coach, during a game two weeks ago.
Mack said Ariel Lopez?s wife heckled him from the stands, and he was later confronted near the dugout by the men. That?s when Javier Lopez punched him in the face, Mack said.
?Out of nowhere, the brother circled me and popped me square in the face. With that, I went down,? Mack said.
Mack and police said after Javier threw the punch, Ariel got on top of Mack before the altercation was broken up. Mack said he did not fight back during the incident.
PAL director said Javier was banned after the incident. According to the director, Ariel was suspended for two weeks, but he may also be banned.
