Two letter carriers honored with Million Mile Award at Sayville Post Office
The honor is given to employees who have driven 1 million miles (or driven for 30 accumulated years) without a preventable incident.

Neither snow nor rain nor anything else stopped two Sayville letter carriers from going the extra mile — one million miles to be exact.
William Wagner and Edward McKenna were honored for their dedication during a ceremony at the Sayville Post Office on Friday.
They each received the National Safety Council's Million Mile Award, given to employees who have driven 1 million miles — or driven for 30 accumulated years — without a preventable incident.
McKenna said the secret to their success is all about staying in control and not worrying about impatient drivers on the streets.
"You know yourself on the road," McKenna said. "Everybody wants to get in front of that van, that truck, that box truck, nobody wants to be behind a truck, so I ... keep it simple."
Wagner joked that "the luck of the Irish" helps him.
"Always be aware of your surroundings," he added.
Wagner and McKenna received a plaque bearing the Million Mile Club emblem, the NSC logo and an engraved personalized nameplate.
The Postal Service has one of the world's largest civilian fleets with 257,894 vehicles, according to the USPS.
