Resulting from President Bush?s troop surge, several National Guard troops from New Jersey will be extending their time overseas.Family members of 148 New Jersey National Guardsmen met with Governor Corzine (D-NJ) to learn more about the extension. The governor expressed his displeasure, saying he wished there was something else he could do.The soldiers have been gone since September 2005 and the families say they can't bear another 125 days without their sons, daughters, husbands and wives. The troops were supposed to come home in March. With the extension, they will not return until late July or early August.Family members say they are also upset that they heard the news before their loved ones. Laurie Schorno's son is in Iraq. She says he excitedly e-mailed her saying his unit was packing its equipment for a March return. She says it was heartbreaking to tell him he was not coming home.
