Trenton police are posing as drunken bar revelers in an attempt to foil robbers trying to victimize the intoxicated.
According to police, thugs have been targeting the bars in the city's south district along Main Street for the past few weeks. Officers engaged in the unusual sting operation to fight back over the Labor Day weekend, netting at least two arrests.
"The officer did a fantastic job," says Capt. Michael Flaherty. "He appeared to be a highly intoxicated individual. He was walking down the street stammering ? he fit well into the neighborhood. The person thought he was an easy mark and tried to rob him."
Police are still seeking a number of suspects they believe have been robbing people at gunpoint, stabbing victims and shooting homes. Authorities are happy with the program and say they plan on utilizing it for the next several months.
