(AP) - A tree fell onto the car of afamily driving along the Garden State Parkway Christmas morning,killing a grandmother and a father and injuring his two daughters.
New Jersey State Police say the accident happened on the GardenState Parkway in Bloomfield in Essex County. The car withMassachusetts license plates was hit by a 40-foot tall tree justafter 1 a.m.
Forty-two-year-old Arlington, Mass., resident Joel Baudouin wasdriving. Seventy-year-old Dorchester, Mass., resident Marie Vernetwas in the front passenger seat. Both died at the scene when thetree crushed their car.
Thirteen-year-old Rachele Baudouin and 8-year-old CassiesBaudouin were sitting in the back seat. Rachele broke her rightleg. Her sister suffered minor injuries.
Police are trying to determine why the tree fell.
