A 51-year-old Toms River man charged with murder in a fatal Wawa shooting remains a fugitive, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Douglas Cobb is wanted on charges including murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to possess a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Bruce Gress of Toms River on Thursday.
Police responded to the Wawa at Route 37 and Garfield Avenue at around 7:20 a.m. after receiving a report that a person was shot. Officers found Gress with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he later died.
Investigators with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office identified Cobb as the person responsible for the shooting.
Cobb has not been taken into custody and is considered a fugitive. An arrest warrant has been issued.
Authorities said Cobb is also known as Douglas Green and goes by the nickname “Bootknock.” Investigators said he was last seen driving a black 2016 Acura MDX with New Jersey registration T93YJL.
