A Toms River man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the United States Capitol.
Salvatore Vassallo, 59, is accused of illegally entering the Capitol building, hopping over a railing and joining a mob confronting police officers.
Vassallo is then said to have grabbed and pushed an officer with force.
He was arrested on Sept. 14 in Toms River and made his initial appearance before a judge that same day. He faces two felony and five misdemeanor charges.
Officials say Vassallo has been released pending further proceedings in Washington, D.C.
