Thousands of people didn't let the dreary morning put a damper on a walk to benefit sick children with special needs.
More than 2,200 people turned out at Johnson Park in Piscataway for the "Walk 'n Roll." Organizers say the event helped raise more than $320,000 to benefit the Children's Specialized Hospital.
Funds will go toward the care of more than 26,000 children who are treated at 13 locations across New Jersey, from Egg Harbor Township to Clifton.
Children's Specialized Hospital is the nation's leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth to 21 years of age who face special health challenges, from chronic illnesses to physical disabilities.
