A sense of community is filling the air, with neighbors helping neighbors, four days after an EF-2 tornado struck High Bar Harbor on Long Beach Island.
Most of the smaller pieces of debris are now gone, but windows remain broken and some roofs are missing in the hardest hit section along Arnold Boulevard.
It only took seconds to turn lives upside down. A quiet lagoon was transformed into a scene of chaos.
“It is amazing no one was hurt, material things can be replaced,” says Cyndi Allen. “This is a community that is strong and everyone is going to help each other get back together. Right now, everybody is doing things for other people."
Allen's parents Betty Lou and Raymond survived the tornado without any serious injuries, but their home was badly damaged and their vehicle left with most windows gone. Through it all, they say neighbors like Pojednic were there to help.
