Gov. Phil Murphy has unveiled a six-part plan to begin reopening the state’s economy amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The governor on Monday projected optimism but cautioned the state is not ready to end its stay-at-home order or quit the weekslong social distancing requirements that have hobbled the economy.

The six-part plan consists of a group of four steps that must be completed first, the governor said. They are sustaining downward trends in new COVID-19 cases and other metrics; expanding testing capacity; boosting contact tracing; ensuring safe places to isolate; restarting the economy “responsibly"; and ensuring resiliency.

The statewide total number of coronavirus cases in New Jersey now stands at 111,188 cases, after Gov. Murphy just announced 2,146 new cases. The governor also announced 106 additional deaths, bringing the statewide death toll to 6,044.

6,407 residents hospitalized for COVID-19

75 patients at our field medical stations.

1,801 patients in either critical or intensive care.

1,303 ventilators currently in use.
