Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen is now one of the latest hospitals in New Jersey to vaccinate their staff after getting hundreds of doses Thursday of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The hospital's CEO is describing it as V-Day today for the hospital. One of the front-line workers vaccinated today says she feels a great peace of mind, and that it felt like a regular flu shot.
“The process was very simple, the shot was very painless, so the exciting part is that perhaps this is the beginning of the end of this pandemic and we're looking forward to that,” says Dr. Aida Capo, chair of the Pulmonary Department at HUMC Palisades. “I think we all are."
The medical center received 600 doses of the vaccine and expects to use them all within the next three to four days at most.
Those getting vaccinated today are due for their second dose Jan. 6, and are expected to be 95% immune within two weeks after that.
