Dr. Adam Singer, the vice chairman for research in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital, joined News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen to answer some questions about COVID-19.
Dr. Singer recently established an institutional registry of persons under investigation for COVID-19 with over 5,600 patients. His findings were published in the
New England Journal of Medicine.
When it comes to other regions not yet hit hard by the pandemic, Dr. Singer says, "The key is to be proactive, and not reactive."
In the article, Dr. Singer and his colleagues say they hope that lessons from Stony Brook University Hospital "will help prepare other physicians and hospitals for what is likely to come so they can stay ahead of the wave."
