Whether you are a meticulous mower or you hire a team to tend to your property, lush lawns don't come cheap.

"We're spending about $45 to $60 for hand tools, which includes a rake, a shovel, and some of the other things that you might need," says Marshal Cohen, the chief retail analyst at Circana. "If you are going to go the route of having power tools like a lawnmower, they can run from $250 all the way up to over $2,000 for a ride-on mower."

If you are looking to hire a team to do the work for you, pricing depends on property.

"Consumers tell us that they actually are spending on average $250 for a small property," says Cohen. "As we all know, some of the properties here where we live, some of them are sizable. On average, that could run up to $1,800 a month."

Mulching is another favorite spring pastime for many. Cohen say large home improvement retailers are known to offer spring savings.

"Think of the Home Depots or the Lowe's, where you can get those 3-cubic-foot bags for about $3 each. Sometimes they're actually on sale for a little bit less," says Cohen.

To keep your lawn and landscaping a cut above the rest, every blade and every penny certainly counts.
