More than 70 families in the building at 1520 Sheridan Ave. are fed up after they say they've been without gas, hot water or adequate heat since early August.
The building lost gas service after an electrical fire damaged the gas lines on Aug. 6.
The landlord, Chestnut Holdings, says it has been working to repair the lines and gave hot plates to all of the tenants for cooking.
Tenants say that they've been left with holes all over their apartments and rats are getting in because of the repairs.
Thirty-seven tenants say they are suing Chestnut Holdings to get their gas restored and their lives back to normal.
The Housing Preservation Department inspected the building last week and found 145 code violations, including two for no gas.
