A 30-year-old teacher's aide at a school in Wall is facing charges for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a male teenage student.
Brandi Shroyer, now suspended without pay from her job, worked at the special needs school The Rugby School at Woodfield. Officials reportedly learned of the relationship from a bus driver who overheard students discussing it. Stroyer worked at the school for a year and a half.
Shroyer faces charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor. If found guilty, she could face at least five years behind bars and be labeled as a sexual predator.
Residents in the Homestead Garden apartments in Spring Lake Heights were shocked to hear their neighbor was taken away in cuffs by police. Stroyer's father and mother refused to comment about their daughter?s arrest.
