Swimmer goes missing amid multiple rescues along Jersey Shore

Police said the swimmer who went missing in Seaside Heights is believed to be a 24-year-old male.

A swimmer went missing amid multiple rescues that happened along the Jersey Shore early Sunday night.

The swimmer went missing in Seaside Heights after emergency officials said they were called just after 6:30 p.m. for six swimmers in distress.

Lifeguards were able to rescue five of the swimmers.

Police said the missing swimmer is believed to be a 24-year-old male.

Swimmers were also rescued in Belmar just after 6 p.m.

Three swimmers were transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital. One who was rescued from 5th Avenue Beach was said to be unresponsive.

Five other swimmers were rescued around the same time at 6th Avenue Beach.
