A Sussex County man is facing charges for allegedly manufacturing assault rifles and handguns.

Franklin Borough police say 25-year-old Michael Zaremski also possessed assault firearms and over 16 high-capacity magazines.

Authorities say that the investigation began after a woman reported that Zaremski sent pictures to her employer that depicted religious or ethnic insensitivity, all in an effort to harm her employment.

Police say that while speaking with Zaremski, who works as an EMT in Hackettstown, they found him to be in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun. Police say that Zaremski manufactured that handgun, which had no serial numbers. Authorities say that Zaremski carried the weapon while on duty as an EMT.

"As the investigation progressed, investigators became aware that, through the course of the investigation, this individual was actually in possession of firearms,” says Franklin Borough Police Detective Nevin Mattessich.

Zaremski faces more than 30 criminal charges and was held at the Sussex County Jail pending his first court appearance.
