A man armed with a gun was shot and killed by police on a street in Passaic County.

The state Attorney General’s office says the confrontation began when Paterson police responded Thursday afternoon to reports of a man with a gun on a city street.

The officers found 42-year-old Luan Agoli, of Pequannock, holding a handgun and walking in the area. Authorities say Agoli then ignored repeated directives from police to drop the gun and continued walking in and out of the roadway. raising the gun in the air at times.
