An overturned tanker truck closed a portion of the New Jersey Turnpike in Middlesex County.
The crash happened a little after 8:15 p.m. Wednesday on the northbound side of the highway.
Authorities have not released much information about the crash, but it appears that a tanker truck and another vehicle were involved. The tanker overturned on the roadway and burst into flames.
The crash blocked several lanes of traffic, backing cars up for miles late Wednesday night.
Police say that the truck driver was able to escape with only minor injuries. It was unclear if anyone in the car was hurt, but the damage to that vehicle appeared to be extensive.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Officials said that they hoped to have all lanes reopen by the Thursday morning commute.
