The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says that one person remains unaccounted for following a three-alarm fire in a home in the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township.
The fire started around 7 a.m. Thursday at the home on Wickapecko Drive. Witnesses say that the smoke was so thick that it could be seen from the nearby Asbury Park beach.
Officials say that at least one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion while fighting the fire. No other injuries were reported.
It was not immediately clear if the missing resident was home at the time of the fire.
Officials say that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
