Storms packing strong wind, rain move across NJ
Thunderstorms packing strong winds and heavy rain have left some damage in their wake across New Jersey.
Storms in Readington knocked down tree branches and power lines along Route 202 Thursday. Residents tell News 12 New Jersey that the storm lasted about 30 minutes and had heavy rain and powerful wind gusts.
The U.S. Women’s Open Championship being held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster had to delay play for a time due to lightning strikes in the area.
Water was flowing down streets and there was some minor pooling and flooding in High Bridge around 3:30 p.m.
The storm also caused thousands of New Jersey residents to lose power for a time.
The National Weather Service issued a severe weather watch for most of the day. That watch has since ended.
Editor's Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that 120,000 JCP&L customers were without power.
