A weather system left parts of northern New Jersey covered in a light coating of snow Thursday, while other parts of the state saw moderate rain.
Many residents up in Sussex County tell News 12 New Jersey that they enjoyed the brief winter weather and are looking forward to more snow this season.
"I like the snow. I like winter," says Hopatcong resident Scott Blander. "I know people who have lived in New Jersey their whole life and every time it gets to 20 degrees or a foot of snow they keep whining about it."
Main roads in Hopatcong like Lake Boulevard were salted, and the pavement stayed mostly clean thanks to the switchover to rain and temperatures rising close to 40 degrees by late morning. Some of the side roads were a bit icy though, according to some residents.
"It's really mainly a salting event. Got to scrape a little bit. That's it," says plow driver Chris Johannesen, who is looking forward to more snow to drum up some business.
Temperatures overnight should drop to the low-30s so icing may be an issue on the roads.
Some scattered snow flurries are possible in the state on Friday.
