State police say two people were killed following a
vehicle crash Sunday on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The crash happened at 4:13 p.m. southbound on the
western spur at MP 107.1 in Newark.
According to state police, preliminary investigation
revealed a Toyota Prius drove off the right side of the road and struck the
guardrail.
State police say the Toyota then crossed over the lanes
and struck the center concrete barrier.
The driver has been identified as Seyed Tarighati,
69, of New York. A passenger in the back seat also died.
The left two lanes were closed for around three
hours.
