State officials are warning the public about the risk of car wrecks due to deer.

Police say they expect an uptick in crashes over the next month, as deer are more active this time of year due to mating season.

They say the deer combined with it getting darker earlier makes October and November the peak time of year for these types of crashes.

Officials warn drivers to stay alert while out on the roads to avoid a potential crash.
