?I want to assure everyone that business will continue as usual,? said Acting Governor Dick Codey at a news conference Friday.
Codey is once again the acting governor of New Jersey after Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) was injured in a car accident. Codey has been governor or acting governor three times. He says he is prepared to lead the state until Corzine recovers.
?I?ll be working closely with Governor Corzine?s senior staff and cabinet members and there will be no change in the way services are delivered in our state,? said Codey.
Codey also took time to express his concern for Corzine.
Meanwhile, Corzine remains in critical but stable condition. His staff offered new details Friday night about the accident on the Garden State Parkway. Corzine?s chief of staff, Tom Shea, says air bags in the SUV apparently did not deploy. He also says Corzine was apparently not wearing his seatbelt.
?If he was not, he certainly should have been. And we would certainly expect and encourage the state police to issue a citation to him for not having done that to be quite honest with you,? Shea said.
It is still unclear how long Codey will remain acting governor.
