ALERTS:
There is a COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY for Middlesex and Monmouth counties for minor coastal flooding with inundation up to 1-2 feet on roads through today's high tide cycles.
There is a COASTAL FLOOD WARNING for Ocean County and south for moderate coastal flooding with inundation up to 3 feet on roads.
There is a RIP CURRENT STATEMENT for hazardous rip currents.
There is a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for 5-foot surf through today until 8 p.m.
FORECAST:
The sky opened up beautifully and the wind is generally calmer across the state, including at the coasts as Hurricane Erin continues to track away from the state into the North Atlantic.
The coastal impacts of the offshore storm diminish gradually through today and tomorrow, but the high tide flooding remains a concern for areas in Ocean County and points south. There will be moderate flooding during the high tide cycles in these areas. There will also be minor flooding in Monmouth and Middlesex counties.
Beach erosion may continue to take place as high surf continues to batter the beaches with 5-foot wave breaks.
The sky stays clear, and the sun comes out with high temperatures pushing into the mid-80s for today.
This summer weather returns for the weekend. Although it may not be fully safe to swim on Saturday, the beach conditions are improving, and it will be great to sit on the sand and soak up the sun - with sunscreen!
There will be a few more clouds on Sunday, and a few showers overnight are possible.
