Stafford police rescue baby who was choking on plastic egg

The family of a 10‑month‑old in Stafford Township is expressing gratitude to a local police officer whose quick actions saved the baby’s life after a plastic egg became lodged in his mouth.
The incident took place March 17 in the Beach Haven West section of town. When police arrived at the home, they found that the baby had a plastic Easter egg in his mouth, obstructing his airway. Officer Brandon Haines managed to safely remove the object, allowing the child to breathe freely and “preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.”
“At the time the call came in, Officer Haines was assigned to a roadwork post only a short distance away. His quick decision to immediately leave that post and respond without hesitation made all the difference,” police said in a statement.
The family of the 10‑month‑old expressed their gratitude to the officer, especially for his quick response. Police said Officer Haines has been nominated for a Life‑Saving Award in recognition of his efforts.
“As police officers, we train for countless situations, but calls involving children are among the most emotional and high‑pressure incidents we respond to,” police said. “This incident is a powerful reminder of why preparation, quick decision‑making and dedication to our community matter.”
